Adoption FAQs

Do I get to determine which children I adopt?

Yes you will be able to determine the age range of children you are willing to work with.

How long does it take to get a placement?

This is a common question with no easy answer. Each family will have a unique experience and there’s not an average length of time that would be helpful in predicting how long a particular family will wait.

Do I have to be married?

No, you do not have to be married. You can be single, but you cannot cohabitate. You can also be divorced, but not in the middle of a separation.

Do I need to own a home?

No, but you will need to meet some space requirements for each child. For example, you will need at least an 8x10 (80 square foot) room for up to two children. Additional children will require more space.

How much does this cost?

There is an upfront cost of $41.25 per person for fingerprinting. This will be refunded if you get licensed by ACH.  You may pay some court costs to finalize your adoption.

Do I have to be employed?

You don’t. You do however need to have enough income to cover the costs of adding children to your home.

How long does it take to become licensed?

Our goal is to license all families within 90 days.
