Volunteer FAQS

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the different ways a person can volunteer?
We use individual, group-based and volunteer mentors to help meet various needs within our agency throughout the year.

After becoming a volunteer, how do I submit my time?
Volunteers can submit their time using the online time form (individuals and mentors only). To access it, click here.

How often can a volunteer participate without being screened?
Volunteers can only participate once every 90 days without having to undergo screening. This fits mostly with groups or one-time volunteers.

Do you have a minimum service commitment for volunteers and mentors?
Yes. Screened volunteers are asked to commit at least 4 hours a month for 6 months. Mentors are asked to commit at least 6-8 hours per month for 1 year.

Can a person volunteer if they are not 16 years old?
Yes, in some circumstances minors may participate with adults during a scheduled volunteer activity or event. Adults must accompany children at all times.

Does your agency offer court-ordered community service?
ACH Child and Family Services cannot offer court-ordered community service to volunteers in any capacity. Click here for a list of eligible agencies.

Are there other ways to get involved?
Yes! We have opportunities for individuals to join the yACH Young Professionals or the Women's Auxiliary. A donation is required to join each group.
