The LIFE (Learning Independence from Experience) Project
The LIFE (Learning Independence from Experience) Project promotes self-confidence and self-sufficiency for eligible young adults by providing a variety of housing options for young adults. These different settings allow young adults to experience independent living while continuing to receive support, guidance, and assistance with skills development. Participants must be 18 to 21 years of age, either single or parenting single adults aging out of foster care or homeless young adults.
Service Area: CPS Region 3b (Erath, Hood, Johnson, Palo Pinto, Parker, Somervell and Tarrant counties) and the following Region 3 counties: Dallas, Denton, Ellis and Navarro

Safe Place
This locally administered national program is designed to provide immediate help and safety to young people under the age of 18 years, who are experiencing a crisis. Safe Place sites are developed in partnership with business and community locations that are easily accessible to youth. Locally, this critical community safety net makes it possible for youth to get help fast at locations displaying the distinctive yellow and black Safe Place sign. ACH responds to youth at Safe Place locations.

Skill Builder Classes
This program provides one-hour group classes lasting 6 weeks for youth, ages 10-17, and parents of youth up to age 18 needing real-life skills. Topics include Life Skills, Why Try, Anger Management, Theft Prevention, and Parenting Wisely. Over 98% success rates using evidence-based curricula.

Youth and Family Counseling
Counseling offers real help for youth ages 6 to 17, and their families dealing with real-life issues such as conflict at home, bullying, anger management issues, talk of running away, reckless or criminal behavior, and school attendance or behavior problems. Services are provided at convenient community locations.

Youth Emergency Shelter
The youth emergency shelter offers runaway, homeless and street youth as well as trafficking survivors, ages 10-17, 24-hour immediate safe shelter and care while ACH works to reunite them with their families or find safe and stable alternative living arrangements. The program provides outreach, education, advocacy, counseling, and case management services for youth who are experiencing family crises, family conflict, or homelessness.
