Kinship Families

Are you ready to make a difference in a child’s life through foster care or adoption? We’re here to help!

For the Love of Families

As a family caring for relatives, we want you to know you’re not alone. We will provide support, training or more intensive in-home services as you care for the child(ren) placed in your home. We also provide assistance with utilizing community resources. We want your family to be successful!

Intensive Support Services

Expedited Foster/Adopt Kinship Licensing

If you are currently caring for a child in your home and not seeking licensing, Kinship Connections Support Services can still provide your family with the following:

  • In-home visits on a bimonthly or weekly basis depending on case needs.
  • Connections to community resources such as food, clothing, and financial resources.
  • Need based financial assistance.
  • In-home education on topics such as Trauma Informed Care, Behavior and Stress Management and Budgeting.
  • Post permanency support.
  • Ongoing service planning and caregiver advocacy.

Kinship Connections offers an expedited foster/adopt licensing track for eligible kinship/fictive kin caregivers. Dual licensing provides kinship caregivers the ability to accept Permanent Managing Conservatorship (PMC) or adopt with long term benefits.

  • Families are assigned a dedicated kinship specialist to guide you through the licensing process.
  • One-on-one assistance with paperwork, training, and home preparation.
  • Most trainings are accessible online.
  • Access to technology, if needed.
  • Assistance purchasing items required for licensing purposes.
  • Once licensed ACH will provide advocacy, case management, monthly financial compensation, and long term support after case closure.

Kinship Support Groups

ACH Kinship Connections offers a monthly support group dedicated to promoting kinship-focused education and collaboration.

  • Support groups are available both virtually and in person.
  • Childcare and dinner are provided for in-person support groups.
  • Support Group provides an opportunity to network and meet other kinship caretakers.
  • One hour of kinship-focused education and one hour of social networking is provided during group.
  • Topics of kinship education include Navigating the CPS and Education System, Stress Management, TBRI, and Child Development.
  • Support group is available to all kinship caretakers regardless of an affiliation with ACH or the Kinship Connections program.
