Last year, ACH provided 5,365 counseling hours valued at over $1.7 million—free of charge.

Real Help for Real Life provides help and support for youth and their families through our Youth and Family Counseling and Skill-Building Classes. These services are provided at convenient locations in the following counties: Tarrant, Johnson, Parker, Hill, and Palo Pinto.

Whether it’s anxiety, depression, conflict at home, bullying, anger issues, behavior problems, school attendance, or thoughts of running away—we are here and ready to help youth, ages 6 to 17, and their families by providing youth and family counseling and skill-building classes.

Real Help for Real Life Needs

Our Resource Connection Services support our active clients in Tarrant County with basic needs such as food, clothing, and housing, as well as referrals for medical care, legal services, long-term counseling, and counseling for adult family members.

Real Help For Real Life provides special support services to kinship guardians who are raising grandchildren, nieces, nephews, or other underage family members through our Kinship Navigator Program.

Youth and Family Counseling

Youth who benefit from counseling may be struggling with real-life issues such as:

  • Anxiety or depression
  • Conflict at home
  • Bullying
  • Anger management
  • Talk of running away
  • Behavior problems

Real Help For Real Life counseling is FREE! Our friendly and knowledgeable staff create a warm environment which makes it a great way to introduce kids and families to talk-therapy. Counseling services begin with an in-take appointment where individual needs and family dynamics are assessed. Staff work with families to identify goals using an action plan to direct the course of services. Counseling can be provided virtually, at our Jennings location, or at convenient community locations near you. Evening and Saturday appointments are available. Bilingual services are available.

Skill-Builder Classes

Designed to help youth and parents  develop specific skills with overcoming common real-life challenges, these classes are FREE with flexible scheduling for busy families. 

Classes are designed for youth and parents struggling with real-life issues such as:
  • Conflict at home or school
  • Anger management
  • Managing peer pressure
  • Lack of motivation at school
  • School attendance
  • Risky or criminal behavior

All class topics were developed using Seeking Safety, a promising practice intervention counseling model, and incorporate Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) principles.

To encourage class completion and to assist with transportation, participants can earn a $10 gas card awarded for each class day, up to $50!

AGES SERVED:
Hill and Palo Pinto counties:
Youth ages 10-17
Parents of youth ages 0-17
Tarrant, Johnson, and Parker counties:
Youth ages 10-17
Parents of youth ages 6-17

Current Classes/Support Groups

This class helps youth identify triggers for their anxiety and develop healthy coping skills. Family Support Specialists guide youth in identifying anxiety-producing beliefs.
This class helps youth understand their anger by learning about its negative effects in their lives and with their relationships. Youth will learn how to express their emotions in a healthy way.
This class is for youth, who may be first offenders, understand the repercussions of life choices. It will provide them the skills necessary to avoid behavior that may put future success at risk.
This class helps parents understand how to improve their relationships with their children and decrease conflict through skill development, behavior management, and support.

1-hour single session classes are provided on specific hot topics. Check out our schedule in the drop-down menu below or call us to schedule one of these classes for your special group.

This summer camp is designed to prepare youth for a bright future. Topics covered include coping with challenges, cultivating healthy relationships and creating meaning in their lives.

Kinship Navigator Program

As a part of Real Help for Real Life, the Kinship Navigator Program planning project is developing a program that will benefit kinship families raising grandchildren, nieces, or nephews in Tarrant, Parker, Palo Pinto, Johnson, and Hill Counties.

If you are a caregiver, legal professional, child welfare worker, educator, or in law enforcement and would like to participate in assisting us in our planning process or get more information, please register by selecting one of the options below.
